CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro along with the iPhone 18 Pro Max, featuring a camera with adjustable aperture, extended battery life, and the latest A20 Pro chip. The flagship models also introduce manual camera controls and a revamped Dynamic Island. Both devices operate on iOS 27 and support Siri AI via Apple Intelligence. The 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera now allows users to select from four different aperture settings. Six laser-cut blades manage the opening, influencing depth of field and light intake. The camera system also debuts Reference Image, which captures signed sensor data when Reference mode is activated. Private Cloud Compute processes this data into a reference image for comparison within the Photos app. This feature is designed to help users verify if an image has been altered after capturing. Support for SynthID will be added through a software update later this year. Manual camera controls receive a significant upgrade with the new system
The A20 Pro chip is built on a 2-nanometer process technology and features a six-core CPU along with a seven-core GPU. It also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine totaling 32 cores. The manufacturer claims the GPU offers up to 40% faster performance compared to the A19 Pro. A redesigned vapor chamber increases the cooling surface area. The updated thermal system, combined with enhanced chip packaging, supports sustained high performance during demanding tasks.
Battery life improves across both Pro models, with the most noticeable enhancements on eSIM-only variants. The iPhone 18 Pro provides up to 36 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max extends that duration to 45 hours. Wired charging can bring the battery to 50% in approximately 15 minutes. eSIM-only versions will launch in markets such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, along with several other countries outside the Middle East.
Siri AI broadens Apple Intelligence features on iOS 27
Preloaded with iOS 27, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max provide access to the latest Apple Intelligence features. Siri AI enters beta on September 14 for supported devices set to English. In October, support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish will be introduced. Siri AI leverages messages, emails, and photos to respond to user inquiries. It can also interpret on-screen content and assist with tasks via the Camera app.
The starting price for the iPhone 18 Pro is $1,199 in the United States, with the Pro Max beginning at $1,299. Customers can select storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. Available finishes include black, silver, glacier, and burgundy. Orders open at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on September 12, and sales begin on September 18 in the initial markets. An additional 20 countries and regions will receive the iPhone 18 Pro series starting September 25.
